Week 3: A Sunny Time for Trail Blazers!

Wow! The weather was nearly the exact opposite from last week. We had amazing weather all week long and boy oh boy was it nice. The weather meant our outdoor BBQ was rocking on Wednesday evening with water games and Jug 'n' Jog to boot. All sunshine and no rain meant that Semi-Pro skills were all running full tilt and we indulged in extra water games to keep kids cool and happy.

The speaker this week was J Janzen from Abbotsford, BC. J is an expert storyteller and artist and it's always amazing to watch the kids as J is illustrating a story while also telling it. Mix that with his Vintage Film Features from the 1970s and you have some pretty captivated kids (and not just kids...all of us adult kids too).
As the week wound down - we got to my favourite part...Testimony Sticks. And there was some good stuff that kids were sharing. Here are just a few of them:

  • God is with you no matter where you go so if you're in troubled times, He will comfort you.
  • You can meet friends you've never met before and have the time of your life.
  • God will always be by your side.
  • God will answer your prayers and do more than what you pray for.
  • I learned how to tell people about God.
  • Even when you feel like God is not beside you - He's always there.
  • You can change the world with God's help.
  • God has a plan for you even though you're scared and don't know where to go. Trust in Him and he'll always forgive you.

I just LOVE testimony sticks. The kids were awesome this week - so energetic and fun. You'll have to ask them to do some of the new warm-ups we learned in Chapel too. Here's the song list from Chapel this week:

Jug 'n' Jog. If the world could just play more Jug 'n' Jog - I think it would be a happier place. It is quite possibly the number one, most singularly enjoyed game at camp. In fact - there are times when I think kids could come to camp, only play Jug 'n' Jog and leave being the happiest kids on Earth. In fact, we could almost be renamed Camp Jug 'n' Jog. summer is here

hey camp evergreen! sorry that it's been so long since i've written. camp has starting and time has just been flying. we've all ready had a family camp, trail blazer I camp and we're just finishing our first sparky/explorer camp. it's been a great start to the summer. forgive me if my updates are few and far between this summer as things keep busy here at camp. i will try to do what i can to post some pictures of what's been up here at camp. kids are coming to know Jesus Christ our Lord and their personal savior and learning tons about God. thanks for sticking with me. in the meantime here's a picture of our wrangling team for the summer. happy trails wherever you are! c-bear
