2018 is going to be full of awesome new things at Evergreen. We've added another Family Camp to our schedule ( registration for Winter Fest Family Camp is open right now ), we're making Charge 3 co-ed, and we're adding two brand new camps to our schedule (Adventure and Wrangler Up). This week and next week, we are going to break down what Adventure Camp and Wrangler Up are going to be like. As our camps continue to fill each year - we're challenged with the question of how to grow while maintaining what makes Evergreen awesome and unique. As we were putting together our 2018 Camp Schedule - we took a hard look at our Out-trips. The campers that absolutely LOVE our out-trips do not often cross over to our Base Camps. There's something really special that happens out at the Tipis and at Foothills Outfitters Camp (Charge and Trails Away) that just can't be ignored. Oh man... It has been a long time since we talked! How have you been? We've been great out here at camp - weeks are just flying by. It only seemed like a moment ago we were starting camps off and then wham! It's already the second to last week of the summer. I wanted to bring attention to one of our new programs this summer: Charge. It's a new out-trip that we're offering that is based out at our brand new Paintball Range. Who better to tell you about their first Charge experience than our Charge leader, Dylan: This year marked our first ever Charge camp here at Evergreen! It was amazing! For those of you who don’t know, Charge is an all guys Out-Trip camp with a focus on Jesus, teamwork, brotherhood, perseverance, courage, and other manly-type things. roughin' it girls: the statistics dates: july 17-22 or august 7-12 age group: grades 4-6 or 6-8 number of campers: 11 in the first crew, 7 in the second general awesome rating: heaps o' fun! Here's a link to a Roughin' It profile from a couple years ago. In addition to two weeks of Roughin' It Girls, we ran three weeks of Roughin' It Boys. We had twelve campers in each of the Roughin' It Boys camps, and they were led by Dylan, Scott and Ben. Our leaders for the first Roughin' It Girls camp this year were Kim, Chelsea and Jena. We run three weeks of Adventure Classic each summer: it's an forgettable week in the Ya Ha Tinda, with rafting, hiking, climbing and all sorts of fun. Jasper wrote about Adventure here and we included just a few pictures with that post. Well, Josie, one of our excellent Adventure leaders, gave me a whole stack of photos (thanks, Josie!) and I'm going to share some of them with you. So I have successfully avoided writing on the blog for this long but no longer. My name is Jasper and I have worked at camp for 5 summers and 3 springs. I come from a small farming community called Gem and I really enjoy the outdoors. This summer, I have been leading a program called Adventure Classic and it has been a fantastic part of this summer for me, so I am going to tell you a little bit about it. So here is a rundown of how the week works: Sunday afternoon, everyone arrives at camp. Once everyone has arrived, we drive out to the Ya Ha Tinda, where we tent for the week at Eagle Lake campground. While there, we hike out to Eagle Lake, we go white water rafting with Mukwah rafting tours , we rock climb and (if the water is not too high) go to some natural waterslides. If the water's too high for the waterslides, we hike out to Bighorn Falls. Back at the camp site we cook excellent meals, play some capture the flag, or just chill around the fire and have some ...
