Flipping for Campers - Hotcakes for Campers

Saturday was an awesome day! Do you know why? Because we made a way for a bunch of campers to come to camp just by eating pancakes! How great is that?!?

Tim was cooking sausages at 6am!
Jogee joined folks from Linden MB as we served up an a.m.a.z.i.n.g. breakfast at the Linden Skating Rink. Cooking began around 6:30am (I may have snuck a couple of sausages...cooking pancakes is hard work!) and we started welcoming folks at 8am.

130 people came to eat pancakes, sausages, and farm fresh eggs (thanks Ratzlaffs!) with us. These folks generously donated $3,307.60 towards our Campership Aid program which provides financial aid to families who otherwise cannot afford camp for their children. It is so humbling to see our communities and partner churches band together to support families from across the province so that all kids can have a life transforming experience at camp. This is the third year that our friends at Linden MB Church has hosted a pancake breakfast for our Campership Aid program and this year - they had more people and more money donated than ever before. That's a lot of kids to camp and a lot of pancakes! Thank you again to Linden MB, Liz and Chris Wood, Donny and Jamie Collins, Tim Brown, Keith and Jonquil Thiessen, Mike and Donna Lynn Ratzlaff, AG Foods in Linden, and Linden Ag Society for all of their donations and help to make these breakfasts happen!

In the next three weeks, we will be hosting two more Hotcakes for Camper Breakfasts in the province:

This summer, $22,000 has been requested by families through our Campership Aid program. Come out to one of our Hotcakes for Campers events to help get these kids to camp one pancake at a time!

Jug 'n' Jog. If the world could just play more Jug 'n' Jog - I think it would be a happier place. It is quite possibly the number one, most singularly enjoyed game at camp. In fact - there are times when I think kids could come to camp, only play Jug 'n' Jog and leave being the happiest kids on Earth. In fact, we could almost be renamed Camp Jug 'n' Jog. thanks for stopping by. this is a new thing for us so bear with us as we figure out technology. basically we started this blog to create a place where all of our friends can come visit us 24/7/365. and by friends i mean you...yeah you...campers, kids who visit us from schools, church groups, retreaters...and anybody you might haul along for the ride. we'll keep you informed as to what's on the dL as far as programming goes and what the happenings are at camp...and maybe some funny stories to go along with those. please check out Camp Evergreen's main site for any contact information. well - i've gotta get and start prepping for our sr. high retreat this next weekend (sept. 15-17th). until next time this is courtney (aka c-bear...aka cort) signing out. stay strong in his grip.

brrrrrr - c-bear hates winter

well the temperature doesn't look like it's going up anymore. i think that we have one day this next week that is double digits. YUCK. i am not looking forward to dealing with icy roads and snow. i just like to think about the YA HA TINDA (which is where we do our Adventure Camps - see the picture above...that's Big Horn Creek). i love the green grass and even drip drip drop. drip drip drop would not be a very good idea in the winter...no - definitely not a good idea. but i guess that there are always things that you can't do in the summer. so why don't you help me in listing things that you would love to do in the winter that you can't do (or atleast not very well) in the summer. here's a couple examples: 1. tobogganing sucks in the summer 2. although i've never tried it, i hear that ice skating outside doesn't work very well so...let's poo poo summer a bit (maybe that will make me feel better about winter)...i look
