The best AGM ever!!!

Most people don't get excited about Annual General Meetings, but here at Camp Evergreen we like to think of them as our Awesome General Meeting and combined with our Open House in the afternoon is one of our favourite days of the year!

Highlights of this years AGM include:

 - a great skit led by our German volunteers.  Watch out for that squirrel!

 - three board members sharing a short testimony and being re-elected for a three year term.
 - a great (and entertaining) financial report - thanks Kevin!  (who knew financial reports could be entertaining?)
 - the launch of our Reaching Higher campaign.
 - free 2016 camps given away.
 - record number of 54 members present!

Each member present received a backpack with a special members pen and pin.  Courtney was also handing out an alumni pin that we were encouraged to proudly wear throughout the day.  Its never too early to start thinking about becoming a Camp Evergreen Society Member or joining our staff!

Ok we think this could be the cutest picture ever!

One of the highlights of the afternoon, in addition to the absolutely perfect weather, was our site manager Rolf, cutting the ribbon at our new archery range.  Just over two years ago the dream was started on a napkin at the dinner table.  SunWest Christian Fellowship church helped us start the project by putting the poles in the ground on a very (very) wet and muddy Saturday.  Mennonite Disaster Service continued the project that following summer by building the deck.  And Rolf pretty much single handily finished the project over the next year and a half with a much greater flair and attention to detail than we expected.  It was only fitting that Rolf cut the ribbon.

Another highlight of our Open House was the over 180 guests who joined us in the afternoon.  A lot of our first time guests on Saturday were campers (and
their families) who are coming to Evergreen for the first time this summer and wanted to "spy out the land."  A big, BIG thanks to all our staff, especially the staff at the barn and challenge course who didn't have a free moment all afternoon as their line up for activities never ended!

The day ended with a free BBQ and we enjoyed burgers, hot dogs and ice cream.  Don't ask me how much ice cream I had, but it was very good!  If you missed this year, its not too early to mark Saturday, June 25th, 2016 on your calendar.
