May has begun and we've already had a very full couple of weeks! On May 1st, we started our Spring Staff Training. As you read on our Reaching Higher Blog last Friday, Redberry Bible Camp joined us on-site for the week. It was great to connect with our sister camp in Saskatchewan as we both prepare our staff for our Guest Groups and the coming Summer Season. Staff Training is not for the faint of heart. From 8am to 9pm - our staff are learning how to facilitate our Outdoor Education program for the coming Guest Groups, how to be amazing hosts, and to shine the light of Jesus Christ to everyone that comes on-site. Then they worked through Safe Place, Staff Conduct, and Crisis Management. There may have been some paintballing mid-week just to decompress a bit. Happy Easter Week Friends! It's hard to believe that as I type this April is already a third gone and our Spring Staff arrive in less than three weeks. Wowzers! I can barely believe that. We've got a lot of events coming up in the next two and a half months. We just wanted to alert you to them so that you can mark your calendar and get registered for the events. Spring Fundraiser The first event that is coming is our Spring Fundraiser. This annual event is not one to miss. It's out of this world (this year especially because it's a Star Wars theme!). We really like to have fun with our fundraisers - I mean, we're camp people, right? And what would camp be without a little dressing up and laughing over an amazing meal cooked by Ken? One of the questions that I have been getting is whether or not you HAVE to dress up...Dressing up is not required! But we will certainly welcome any Jedis, Padawans, and Vaders that might saunter through the doors that night. Ti...

  What an amazing couple of weeks it's been here at camp. Last week we welcomed our Spring Staff onto site for training. It's always a crazy week full of a tons of information, games, and learning how to teach Outdoor Education in a short amount of time. Next week we will devote the whole blog about what it takes to be a staff here when it's not summer. Today...today we just want to say thank you. THANK YOU! Our Dinner and a Laugh Fundraiser was a huge success but more than that - it was just a wonderful evening. Start to finish, we just really loved connecting with and visiting with supporters of Evergreen - people who personally experienced the life-changing power of camp themselves or through a loved on and are invested in the future of Camp Evergreen. This is it people - we're days away from our Dinner and a Laugh Fundraiser at Dalhousie Church. Everything goes down on May 7th at 5pm. If you don't have your tickets - you need to call the Camp Evergreen office TODAY. We're excited to share with folks where Camp Evergreen is today. We're growing and adding camps and literally bursting at the seams. May 7th is about celebrating that, hearing about what God is doing in the lives of our staff and campers, and also talking about where God is leading us as an organization ( Reaching Higher ). It's also about eating some amazing food by our Red Seal Chef, Ken and laughing. Because really - Camp Evergreen is all about the good food and fun times. If you can't make it - pray with us. As most of you know, May 7th marks the day of our Spring Fundraiser at Dalhousie Church. It's going to be a hilarious event as Leland Klassen joins us as the entertainment for the evening. Laughing is not the only thing we can promise about the event. Ken, our Red Seal Chef, will be preparing a most amazing meal. There's rumours of roasted goodness and homemade salad dressings. If you've ever had a meal from Ken - you know how much love and imagination gets poured into it. The other thing that you can get excited about is our Silent Auction. There will be an amazing spread of family friendly tickets to things like Calaway Park, Tyrrell Museum, and Heritage Park and then some cool getaway ideas like Golf and Hotel Packages to Olds, Cranbrook BC (Kimberley Golf Resort), and even a week hotel in Maui, HI.
