Thank You!
What an amazing couple of weeks it's been here at camp. Last week we welcomed our Spring Staff onto site for training. It's always a crazy week full of a tons of information, games, and learning how to teach Outdoor Education in a short amount of time. Next week we will devote the whole blog about what it takes to be a staff here when it's not summer.
Today...today we just want to say thank you. THANK YOU! Our Dinner and a Laugh Fundraiser was a huge success but more than that - it was just a wonderful evening. Start to finish, we just really loved connecting with and visiting with supporters of Evergreen - people who personally experienced the life-changing power of camp themselves or through a loved on and are invested in the future of Camp Evergreen. It's such an encouragement to US to hear the stories of change and support from our constituents.
It all began with an explanation of our Reaching Higher project. If you don't know what Reaching Higher is - check it out here. It not only addresses the challenges that we have right now with growing and not having enough space but it's about moving forward and continuing to reach the next generation of youth and kids for Jesus.
Then we got to eat. Oh my - did we eat. Ken, our Red Seal Chef whipped up some delicious salad, blueberry balsamic reduction, and stuffed roasted pork...and that's just part of the goodness we enjoyed.
Leland Klassen helped us burn off some of those calories from dinner by getting us laughing. The Silent Auction and Live Auction items raised over $5,000...Those Peanut Butter pies? Let's just say the one that got live auctioned off went for $500...and it didn't even make it out of the banquet hall!
In total, you raised $28,525 for Camp Evergreen and we thank you for it. We thank Dalhousie Church for their generous donation of their facility, our staff who worked so hard to set up and take down that day, all of the donors for the Silent Auction and Live Auction items, and to you - for coming and supporting camp. Without you - Camp Evergreen cannot do what we do. We cannot make camp happen without the faithful support and encouragement of you.
Much love,
Jogee
