Vision, Mission, Values: An Update!

The "what are we doing here?" question is an important one to revisit every now and then. Are we following the path God has laid out for us as an organization? Do our vision, mission and values challenge us to pursue God with greater passion? Do they contribute to a God-honouring culture among our staff and volunteers?

After several months of prayer and reflection, on January 10, 2010, our Camping Ministries Commission (Board of Directors) unanimously affirmed a new vision, mission and values for Camp Evergreen. We continue to be a place where faith is developed and lived out, fun is an unavoidable fact of life, and fellowship is how we operate, as we worship, live, work and play together. We continue to serve Alberta's kids and youth as our primary mission field, encouraged by Psalm 78:4, which reads,

"We will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,
his power, and the wonders he has done."

Our new vision, mission and values reflect our desire to serve God wholeheartedly, to recognize that it's not by our own power, but by the power of God that people's hearts are changed, and to worship, live, work and play in an environment of celebration, love and hope!

Vision
Camp Evergreen has a vision to be a camping ministry that sees individual lives transformed through the power of Jesus.

Mission
Camp Evergreen exists to share the good news of Jesus Christ and to grow kids and youth - spiritually, mentally, socially, physically, wholly - cultivating confidence, facilitating courage, and equipping leaders among our campers, guests and staff, all while having fun and using Gods' creation as a key tool!

Values
Celebration
(Psalm 47:1, Psalm 118:4).
Dependency on Jesus
(John 15:5, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Hebrews 4:12).
Love (Matthew 22:37-39).
Prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Relational Integrity (1 John 4:7-21, Ephesians 2:8-9, Proverbs 10:9 and 11:3).

In the coming weeks, I'll post more about each the vision, mission and each of the values. Stay tuned!
