Reaching Higher
In the past few months, you may have heard about a new campaign at camp called Reaching Higher. Maybe you've seen it in an email, or heard me talk about it at Closing Program throughout the summer. Perhaps you stopped by to look at the plans (and eat the cookies) at the Welcome Centre during Registration or Closing in July and August. We're very excited about how the camp is moving forward and we want to share it with everyone because you're all part of it.
As you know, Evergreen is focused on changing the lives of everyone who visits. Through our loving staff, amazing facilities, and the beautiful wilderness around us, we share God's love, sacrifice, and the excitement of a journey with Christ. During the summer we're able to reach hundreds of children and youth with the Good News of the Gospel. In the winter, we are able to reach even more, by hosting school groups and retreats, with people of all ages and walks of life. Check this out:
We are currently in an exciting time of growth. Summer camps are filled to capacity (813 this past summer!) and guest group bookings have the camp fully occupied through the Spring and Fall. At the same time, we are facing critical facility challenges due to outdated or insufficient kitchen, lodge, indoor activity space and staff housing. Without significant capital improvements, Camp Evergreen risks losing its current momentum and will be unable to sustain its current growth.
After much prayer, planning, and discussion we are now fundraising for a new lodge. This will give us a larger kitchen, dining hall, adventure centre, meeting space and accommodations, along with the addition of two new staff hourses. This is part of a 5 year plan, which will enable Evergreen to serve for the next 50 years. This plan will answer our most pressing needs and will provide a huge opportunity for growth in the effectiveness of this ministry.
We are currently on schedule to begin the foundation of these additions in April, 2016. In order to continue to raise funds for this project we need committed donors to partner alongside with us, both financially, and in prayer. As part of this foundation, for every $1000 donated to this project we'll be dedicating a commemorative brick. With a monthly pledge of only $25 for 40 months, you will be adding one of these bricks, and marking a significant milestone in the funding of our new lodge.
