merry christmas! happy new year!
Hello, friends!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus and enjoying the company of your family and friends! Here at Evergreen, we're basking in the snow and cold. All of us staff had the opportunity to take off for a couple of days to spend time with family and friends -- we were in Medicine Hat, Edmonton, Spruce View, Red Deer, Calgary and Maple Ridge (obviously, not all of us were in all of those places)! Things have picked right back up again on site on Boxing Day, when a group of 30 youth pulled in for trail rides, climbing, games, chapels and general fun and excitement.
Thank you for you generous responses to my "Yearend Giving" blog post. I have been repeatedly wowed by people's generousity and their commitment to ministry here at Evergreen! So, thank-you!
Summer 2010 registration will be available online really, really soon (by January 6, if not before): check our main website, www.camp-evergreen.com, to register for summer camp!
We're gearing up for our first-ever 3-on-3 Pond Hockey Tournament on January 9. We have six teams confirmed, which is pretty great for our first ever event! I'll post more pictures next week of the ice (it's glorious) and the prep ... and then details on how it went after the fact.
We're also getting ready for our veryveryvery full Rise 'n Shine (Junior High) Retreat from January 15-17. Our youth pastor friends have amazed us with their ability to get numbers and in some cases, even money and registrations, in early! Huzzah! (And now that we know you're capable ...)
Switchfoot has decided to complicate life by doing shows in Edmonton on January 15 and Calgary on January 16. Several people have noted this conflict to me and I'm just going to say it: we are going to have WAY MORE FUN HERE than could ever be had at a Switchfoot concert, as amazing as Switchfoot may be. But, I understand the conflict nonetheless.
Have a safe and joyful New Year's. I'll leave you with some of my favourite pictures from 2009 and I'll be talking to you again soon,
kerry
PS. We receive funding from the United Way of Central Alberta for our Campership Aid program. Much like I expressed in "Yearend Giving", the United Way of Central Alberta has felt the effects of the recession. They've just sent out a news release about meeting their fundraising targets: they're behind -- if you're interested in supporting the United Way, please follow the link!
