Spring in Full Swing

Just over a month ago we welcomed 17 more staff onto site for our Spring Season. These staff, along with our winter staff, have been and will continue to serve our Guest Groups that come through the camp in May and June. These groups are largely made up of schools, Scout and Guide groups, and Churches who are having retreats here.

Days are busy and long - three meals a day, five activity blocks, cleaning, and evening programming which includes wide games, Yodel 'n' Hum, and campfires. Our staff work tirelessly to serve our groups and make sure that they are having an unforgettable experience here at camp. Sometimes you hear people say that camp isn't a "real" job. I'm pretty sure I could make some pretty strong arguments towards saying that there are not many jobs that measure up to camp work.

It's not just work though - our staff do Bible Studies together, play sports together, and straight up have one of the most memorable spring and summers together.

I've heard a lot of people talk about how everyone should work at camp at least one summer out of their lives. It's transformational and definitely not a slacker way to spend your summer. I was talking to one of our staff (Trenton) the other day and I asked him one of the things he loves about working at camp and he simply said that "I love seeing how all of the different strengths in each person on our staff team work together to make camp happen. There are so many people from different places in Alberta, BC, and other parts of the world and it all works. God works through everyone here and all of us together as a team."

It's so true - every year up to 90 staff, paid and volunteer, come through camp from many different walks of life, different personalities, all kinds of life experience and God puts us together, forming one team to serve thousands of people in the name of Jesus.

I asked Trenton one more question. I just asked him "why camp"? You know what he said? "Because God is working here".

Whether you're wondering why you should come as a camper or as a staff.  There's your answer: You should come - because God is at work here.

Have a great week!
