What Can Happen In Just Three Weeks?

Let me tell you!  In the last three weeks Camp Evergreen had two workdays, two pancake breakfasts, and a great Father/Son Retreat.

On June 1, Camp Evergreen had a workday to prepare the cabin foundations for Mennonite Disaster Service this summer.  In July, MDS will be spending four weeks at Evergreen building six new cabins.  A Big Thanks to the over 20 volunteers who came and helped out.  The weather held and we were able to move a lot of gravel that day. (a lot of gravel!)

While we were busy working here at Evergreen, Bob and Marianne Thiessen were busy up north hosting their annual pancake breakfast in Edmonton.  $6,000 towards campership aid was raised.  This will ensure many of our campers who otherwise couldn't come to camp are able to join us for the best week of their summer.

On Saturday June 8th, we hosted our annual Father/Son Retreat.  It was a great time of worship, inspiring sessions and of course great food including bacon.  Sid Koop our speaker brought his son Payton, and Reg Friesen led us in worship with his two sons, Joel and Jesse.  We had about 18 Fathers with their sons.

While we were hard at work relaxing at the retreat, SunWest Christian Fellowship from Calgary sent a mini Missions Trip to Evergreen with approx. 20 people.  Let me tell you these were hard working individuals.  They finished the railing and wheelchair ramp on Moose Junction our general store.

Back in the woods, battling a muddy bog, this group man (and woman) handled 24 large poles into the ground for our new archery range.  Thanks Kevin McInnis for bringing so many from your church to serve us.  We really appreciate your servant hearts and willing hands.  This is going to be some archery range when it's finished!

This Saturday, June 15 saw the first annual pancake breakfast in Linden, hosted by Keith and Jonquil Thiessen.  There was a great turnout and a big thanks goes out to the Linden MB Church for not only helping cook, but for eating our extra large pancakes!  $2,200 was raised for campership aid.  Thanks Keith and Jonquil for organizing this breakfast.

So you do the math.  Two awesome workdays with close to 50 volunteers giving up their Saturdays to serve at camp. Two pancake breakfasts raising $8,200 for campership aid.  And one Father/Son retreat where we were challenged to deepen our relationship with Christ.  It doesn't get much better than this.

We hope to see many of you register for our 50th at the end of the month.
