rewind: retreats for women

Our annual Ladies’ Retreat was held on April 20-22. As far as anyone currently at camp can remember, it’s been going since at least 1998! The 22 ladies enjoyed worship with Amanda Falk, and speaking by Heather Boersma, who based her messages around this summer’s theme verse, which is 1 John 4:10-12. Our activities were open, and as usual, Ken’s cooking class was a hit! It was wonderful to see this intimate group of ladies bonding and enjoying some time away from the daily routine.

We were glad to welcome Heather Boersma and Amanda Falk for our Ladies' Retreat.

On March 30-April 1, we held our first ever Mother and Daughter Retreat, and it was a definite success! Colleen and Sydney Reimer (Colleen is a member of our management team) led worship, and we were happy to have mother/daughter pair Lorinda and Kayla Block with us from SunWest Christian Fellowship in Calgary to share their stories and wisdom with the 11 mother/daughter teams. During one session, the mothers wrote letters of blessing to their daughters while the daughters worked on a craft to give to their mothers. As always, camp’s activities were open, and Colleen and Sydney also gave a special class in giving manicures! 

On Sunday, the mothers and daughters worked on gifts for each other.

We love it when ladies of all ages come and spend time at camp. Stay tuned for dates and information about next year’s retreats!

Jug 'n' Jog. If the world could just play more Jug 'n' Jog - I think it would be a happier place. It is quite possibly the number one, most singularly enjoyed game at camp. In fact - there are times when I think kids could come to camp, only play Jug 'n' Jog and leave being the happiest kids on Earth. In fact, we could almost be renamed Camp Jug 'n' Jog. And it's also funny - my computer or iPhone doesn't even recognize the words or phrase as being a spell check. That's when you know you talk about something a lot. You might think that those opening statements are strange or even foreign - maybe you don't even know what Jug 'n' Jog is...well, let me tell you! It's epic, it's fantastic, and it's played with recycling (we have to be good stewards, you know). thanks for stopping by. this is a new thing for us so bear with us as we figure out technology. basically we started this blog to create a place where all of our friends can come visit us 24/7/365. and by friends i mean you...yeah you...campers, kids who visit us from schools, church groups, retreaters...and anybody you might haul along for the ride. we'll keep you informed as to what's on the dL as far as programming goes and what the happenings are at camp...and maybe some funny stories to go along with those. please check out Camp Evergreen's main site for any contact information. well - i've gotta get and start prepping for our sr. high retreat this next weekend (sept. 15-17th). until next time this is courtney (aka c-bear...aka cort) signing out. stay strong in his grip.

winter is here

wow. it's definetely winter here. what is it? like -30 or something ridiculous like that. brutal! koda says merry christmas and stay warm! this is going to be short because i really, really want to stress how important it is to get ALL your families out here for December 9th! It's called An Evergreen Christmas and it starts at 1pm and goes until about 7pm. There's sleigh rides (as long as we have snow), cookie decorating, a few crafts, skating, fellowship, some ponyrides, hot chocolate, and a hot dog roast at 5:30pm. please phone the camp's main office (found on the camp's main site) to tell us that you're coming! see you there! cort
